There is no cost to the client upon entering the program. In Phase II, after the client is gainfully employed, 30% of the paycheck is given back to the House of T.I.M.E., to help defray the cost of our Phase I clients.
Upon completion of our program, each woman will have remained abstinent from alcohol and/or other drugs while developing social and comprehensive cognitive skills. She will also have become gainfully employed, thus learning and implementing the skills to live independently.
Our facility is recognized as a State of Georgia Division of Rehabilitation Services
Provider and meets or exceeds all of the Division's standards, procedures, and
guidelines. Our program is monitored by several agencies (DCA, HUD, etc) to assure
compliance with their requirements for structure and content and qualifications of our staff.
All of our clients are female, homeless, at least 18 years of age, and have substance abuse issues. Most of them have not completed high school, have little or no job skills and coping mechanisms, and demonstrate, at the time of admission, the inability to identify problems and develop appropriate solutions. Our program provides the tools necessary for a woman to overcome these obstacles to independent living. Most importantly, they receive treatment for and insight into their addictive disease toward their ultimate goal of life-long sobriety.
The House of T.I.M.E., Inc., established in 1994, is a non-profit organization committed to providing quality, long-term, residential treatment services in a structured, community based environment to homeless women at least 18 years old with history of substance abuse. It is important to understand there is no "typical" resident. Our community welcomes women from all walks of life, all races and all religions.
Our program is nine to twenty four months in duration, with a minimum nine-month commitment. We offer each resident the opportunity to address issues such as sexual, physical and emotional abuse, lack of education and poor health care, while teaching her the life skills needed for independent living. We have on staff two primary counselors, a residential manager, a clinical
coordinator and a life skills counselor. We also have a Licensed Therapist/Physicians’ Assistant and a GED Teacher on contract weekly.
Residents live in transitional houses and apartments called recovery residences (shared by 4-7 women) where they reside as family units. They share cooking, cleaning and other household
duties. Our transitional recovery residences are nestled on the edge of the medical community in Columbus, Georgia.
The House of T.I.M.E. program consists of three phases, an Aftercare Program and Alumni Program. In the first phase, each resident is expected to attend a minimum of 4 weeks of
structured day and evening treatment provided by the House of T.I.M.E. Each participant is oriented to the program where intensive addiction treatment needs as well as general health and
specific concerns are addressed. Upon completion of Phase One, the resident begins Phase Two. She is given limited time to find employment as she continues to participate in structured day and
evening programs. (All residents are required to attend a minimum of six AA/NA/CA meetings weekly) Working and saving money is also a vital part of this phase. Each resident is required to
open a savings account and is required to deposit a portion of her paycheck into the savings account to help provide means to secure permanent housing upon completion of the program. Phase Three residents continue many different opportunities to demonstrate the ability to be self-sufficient by meeting the financial obligations of rent, utility and food bills while learning and practicing budgeting skills. During Phase Three, the client prepares to move forward into independent living. She will search for and obtain housing with the help of the residential manager. Our Aftercare Program continues for a 6-month period, during which time our Aftercare Manager and Life Skills Counselor monitor the client in maintaining addiction recovery, life skills, budgeting, etc. Our Alumni Program is designed to help prior clients give back to the community the tools that they received while in the program. Our alumni are very dedicated to helping in fundraising efforts
and volunteering in times of need.
The House of T.I.M.E., is one of a kind in this area, offering a one-stop-shop philosophy. The client is provided access to meet all needs in one location.
